Who We Are

About MAG

We are part of the Assembly of God fellowship. We are located in one of the fastest-growing areas in Northern Virginia, just south of Manassas. We believe we have been strategically placed here by God to help Northern Virginians find and follow Christ.

Our Congregation - We are a multigenerational, diverse group of believers and seekers of all ages. We are home to DC commuters, military members, internationals, families, and singles. We typically live on the casual side of the dress spectrum. When you come to worship, you will see everything from casual blue jeans to a suit. We want you to be comfortable. Our average weekend attendance is about 2000.

Our Worship Services - Our services typically include a period of corporate worship through contemporary worship music, times of corporate prayer and one-on-one ministry, and uncompromised preaching from the Word of God. Services also include times for personal reflection and decision.  We celebrate Holy Communion once a month.

Our History - we are 75 years old and have been in this location since 2001. Check out our history.

Our Purpose - Helping people follow Jesus.

Here's what that looks like at MAG:

1. Loving God - developing your relationship with God through corporate worship, personal or group Bible study, and a regular prayer life.

2. Loving Others - finding a few close friends in the MAG family who can share your joys and burdens and walk alongside you as you follow Christ.

3. Serving Together - finding your place in ministry, either inside the walls of MAG or in the community.

How We Do Church

We offer a variety of activities, on and off campus, to help you connect with God, each other, and to find your place to serve.

1. We offer a wide selection of corporate worship experiences, Bible classes, and other personal tools to develop your relationship with God.  Loving God

2. We offer a wide selection of Life Groups and other community building activities to choose from. We try to provide many ways for you to really know someone at MAG and to develop genuine, Christlike relationships.  Loving Others

3. We offer many ways to serve others, either in leadership positions, as a part of a standing ministry team, or as a volunteer on a short-term mission. We can help you discover your ministry gifts and help plug you into ministry.  Serving Together

Balance is Key

We know it is easy to overcommit our lives in ministry. We are keenly aware that people can get so busy at church that they don't have time to build relationships with those who don't know Jesus yet.

We don't want you to take on too much church stuff. Here's what Jesus said is most important: "'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.' The second is this: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' There is no commandment greater than these." (Mar 12:30-31, TNIV) MAG is here to help you do this.

Our Core Values

Spirit Empowered

We believe the Spirit’s empowerment is essential to our lives and ministry. We are committed to living Spirit-filled, walking in godliness and power, maturing in Christ-like character, and pursuing the gifts of the Spirit.
Zechariah 4:6, 1 Corinthians 12:4-13,
Ephesians 5: 18-20; 2 Tim. 3:5; Galatians 5:22-24.

Purposeful

We believe Christ-centered ministry that impacts people happens on purpose. We are committed to praying, seeking the Spirit’s direction, preparing, ministering effectively, and strategic planning.
Acts 16:6-10, 1 Corinthians 3:10; Proverbs 19:21;
Luke 14:28-32; John 15:1-8.

Every Believer a Minister

We believe that every believer in the body of Christ has been uniquely designed to serve God. This includes the concepts of servanthood, stewardship, spiritual gifts, ministry callings, empowerment, and team ministry.
Romans 12; 1 Corinthians 12 & 14; Luke 12:35-48; Ephesians 4;
Nehemiah 4:13, Exodus 18:13-26.

Excellence

We believe that excellence honors God and inspires people. We are committed to developing areas of strength, improving areas of weakness, and engaging in evaluating, reviewing, and assessing to improve ministry quality and draw out the best in each individual.
Exodus 35:30-35, Malachi 1:6-14; Philippians. 3:14,
Colossians 3:17; Proverbs 27:17.

Relevant

We believe the church should be culturally relevant as we carry out our stated purpose while remaining doctrinally pure. This includes the concepts of being creative in our ministry and relevant to our community throughout our campus, verbal communication, printed materials, and use of the arts.
Mark 4:33, 1 Corinthians 9:19-23, John 1:14, 17:15-18.

Authentic Relationships

We believe authentic relationships are essential to living in genuine Christian community. We are committed to caring, honesty, open communication, integrity, respect, accountability, and confession.
Zechariah 8:16-17; John 13:34-35; 1 Corinthians 13; Ephesians 4:15;
1 Peter 2:17; James 5:16.

Evangelism

We believe that lost people are of ultimate value to God and, therefore, should be equally valuable to us. We are committed to investing time and resources to present the gospel to the lost and unchurched, the concepts of evangelism as an event where the call for an informed decision for Christ is appropriately presented, and evangelism as a process involving relationship building, on-going witnessing, and the working of the Spirit over time.
Luke 5:30-32; Matthew 13:18-23; 18:14;
Acts 1:8, Philemon 6, 1 Corinthians 3:5-8.
